Frequently Asked Questions
Answers about spam-trap detection, getting your results, and using the service.
1. What is RemoveSpamTraps.net?
RemoveSpamTraps.net analyzes uploaded email lists using a proprietary library to identify addresses that are likely to be spam traps. The service is operated by Founder Bits Inc. (DBA BigMailer). No account or BigMailer subscription is required.
2. How effective is the service at identifying spam traps?
We estimate that we can identify 30–80% of spam traps, depending on the list. This is an estimate, not a guaranteed detection rate. Spam traps are deliberately difficult to identify, and results may include missed traps or incorrectly flagged addresses. Unflagged addresses are not guaranteed to be safe or deliverable.
The before-and-after examples below show changes in spam-trap reports for BigMailer customer accounts following removal efforts. They illustrate past outcomes, rather than a measured detection rate for every RemoveSpamTraps.net upload.

Examples reproduced from BigMailer’s article on spam-trap removal. Results vary by list and sending activity.
3. Do you offer refunds?
Purchases are final and non-refundable, except when a technical error prevents delivery of purchased results or a refund is required by applicable law. If a technical problem prevents you from accessing purchased results, contact hello@removespamtraps.net.
4. What are spam traps, and how do they get onto an email list?
Spam traps are email addresses monitored by mailbox providers, anti-spam organizations, and blocklist operators to detect problematic sending practices. Sending to them can damage sender reputation and email deliverability.
They can enter through purchased or scraped lists, signup typos, or old addresses that have been repurposed. Even lists built through legitimate signups can develop spam-trap risks over time.
Common categories include pristine traps created to catch unsolicited email, recycled traps made from formerly active addresses, and typo traps associated with misspelled domains. A typo or role-based address is not automatically a spam trap.
5. Can I get my results for free?
Yes. If the number of records we identify is small, we offer the results for free. To receive those results, enter an email address and we will send them to you. If your results do not qualify for free delivery, you can purchase the detailed results at the price shown.
We may also use the email address you provide to ask for feedback or a review of the service. We will not sell or rent it, share it with third parties for their independent purposes, or use it for promotional communications. You can opt out of further feedback and review requests using the unsubscribe link in an email you receive.
6. Is this the same as a general email verification service?
No. RemoveSpamTraps.net focuses on identifying likely spam traps. It does not check whether individual mailboxes exist or can receive messages, and it does not replace general email validation or bounce detection.
7. How long do you retain my data?
Uploaded files and generated results are automatically deleted 90 days after the initial upload. Purchasing results does not restart that period. Download and save any results you want to keep before they expire.
Customer email addresses, payment records, and operational information follow the separate retention practices described in our Privacy Policy. See our Terms of Service for additional information about file retention and access.
8. Do I need an account or a BigMailer subscription?
No. This is a standalone service. You do not need to create an account, subscribe, or be a BigMailer customer.
9. Do I have to provide an email address?
An email address is not required to upload a file for analysis. If you qualify for free results, we ask for an email address so we can send them to you. We may also request an email address for results delivery in other cases. Providing an address does not create an account or subscribe you to promotional communications.
10. How much does it cost? Are there recurring charges?
If your results qualify for free delivery, there is no charge. Otherwise, you pay the price displayed before purchasing your results. Payments are processed by Stripe. Each purchase is a one-time payment, with no subscription or recurring charges.
Prices may change for future purchases. Pricing changes do not affect transactions already completed.
11. Can I purchase my results later?
Yes. Files and results remain available for 90 days after the initial upload. Your browser stores session information so you can return to your results. Use the same browser and device, and avoid clearing browser storage before purchasing and downloading your file.
12. What happens if I clear my browser storage, change devices, or my results expire?
Clearing browser storage or switching browsers or devices may prevent you from accessing your upload session. Because no account is required, we cannot guarantee recovery without valid session information. Files and results are automatically deleted 90 days after the initial upload and are no longer available after that period. Download and save your results before they expire.
13. Which sub-processors does the service use?
We use Amazon Web Services for hosting and file storage, Stripe for payments, Cloudflare for website security and bot detection, and Google Analytics for website analytics.
These companies have different roles. AWS processes uploaded files on our behalf; Stripe, Cloudflare, and Google process information for their respective functions and are not necessarily sub-processors of uploaded list contents. Our Privacy Policy describes these relationships and our use of cookies and tracking technologies.
